People do what works....
Today I was talking with a client who had a reputation for being prickly and slightly aggressive. Once people got to know her they discovered all her wonderful, positive qualities, but too often people didn't bother because the first impression she created was of someone who was 'hard work'.
As she was telling me her story, I could see how she had once felt that she needed to be on the defensive in order to navigate the challenges life had presented her with. But now, she was in a different place; she had a great job, wonderful colleagues and, fun and supportive friends - the only thing that was getting in the way of her ability to make the most of life's opportunities was her own defensiveness; a habit that no longer served any purpose in her life.
Quite often, if you have a habit or behaviour that is limiting your progress or getting in your way, the secret to breaking it, is discovering on what level that habit is working for you.
Once my client was able to see that, although this habit had once given her a sense of protection, it was now of no benefit to her at all, she knew that developing a new approach would be much, much easier.
What old habits are you hanging on to, long after their 'used by' date?

From small beginnings...
One of the best things about being a success coach is the inspiring, and courageous clients I get to work with, and I have the wonderful opportunity of learning so much from them. Of course I've heard it on good authority that most of them learn a few things from me too!
This blog gives me a chance to share some of those lessons and insights with you.
I will be sharing some of the light bulb moments my clients have had as well as some of the things I am learning or observing on my own journey.
Please post me your feedback - I'd love to know what has been most relevant or meaningful for you.
Take care, and remember - you only get one life, it's important that you really LOVE it!
